The Old Forge,

Narrow Water Castle Estate, Warrenpoint, Co. Down

 

The old warehouse forms a significant part of the Narrow Water Castle estate grouping, protected Historic Parks, Gardens and Demesnes.

The overall project encompasses the revitalisation of the 0.8 ac traditional square farm site. Within the typical courtyard, the layout is old stables, workshops, piggery sheds. Phase 1 includes restoration and conversion of one of the northeast located workshops to provide a traditional blacksmith workshop. The Old Narrow Water Forge has been established by a generation of traditional blacksmiths and is now run by father & son. 

 

The Old Narrow Water Forge specialises in traditional and contemporary ironwork, working with all forms of metal including true wrought iron, mild steel, bronze, copper, stainless steel and corten. Traditional techniques such as fired forges, based on principles of use of heritage materials, are combined with modern equipment to produce state -of -the -art designs.
