Fairy Glen/ Water Street, Rostrevor

Glenside, located at No. 31 Water Street, is a B1 Listed building (HB16/06/031) of notable historical importance within the architectural and cultural development of Rostrevor. Its heritage status reflects both its individual character and its contribution to the wider historic streetscape of Water Street.

Our vision is to respectfully enhance the building’s historic setting while ensuring its long-term sustainability and functionality. The design approach is rooted in sensitivity and restraint, introducing carefully considered interventions that complement rather than compete with the existing structure. These include the addition of traditional railings to the front and side elevations, conservation-focused retrofitting to improve performance, and thoughtfully designed alterations to the rear.

A comprehensive programme of conservation-led repairs will follow a Conservative Repair philosophy. This approach prioritises the preservation of surviving historic materials, integrating new work in a way that is skilfully and sensitively fitted to the old. Wherever possible, materials salvaged on site will be reused within the project, supporting sustainable practice, reducing embodied carbon, and managing costs responsibly.
